Shipping and Delivery

Some of the bigger candle companies offer free shipping and they likely work that cost into the price of their candle.  I however am a small business and am not able to absorb shipping costs.  Orders ship via USPS.  I will utilize Ground Advantage which includes $100 of  insurance against damage or loss through USPS.   We are not responsible for carrier delays, damage, theft, or loss. Please retrieve packages promptly to avoid weather-related damage.

What are the candles made from?

100% Pure soy wax, made in the U.S.A.  Soy wax provides a cleaner burn than candles with added chemicals. All candles are hand-poured in Iowa.  There may be variations in the look and texture of the wax from one candle or wax melt to the next. These differences are not considered defects nor will they affect how your item performs.  Handmade, 100% soy wax candles will NOT look exactly like candles on the shelves in large retailers.  I do not use paraffin wax (a petroleum product) which is known for releasing more scent into the air. 

Fragrance oils

We use fragrance oils that are non-toxic, paraben-free, and phthalate-free. All oils are sourced and safety-tested in the U.S.

Wicks

Our wicks do not contain parabens, phthalates, zinc or lead.  They are made of natural cotton, hemp fibers or  wood.   I use various wick types depending on the wax and fragrance formulation blend, or the vessel the candle is in. 

Considering a different scent or mood in different rooms?  Order more than one!

 Plan each burn for 3-4 hours, or long enough for the melt pool to reach all sides of the vessel.  This helps it from tunneling and leaving wax around the sides of the jar.  A small amount of wax on the sides is normal.  As the wick burns down, the sides of the vessel heat up and usually melts most all the wax toward the end of the candle's life.

     Burns longer than 4 hours can create large flames and smoke, so you must:

 Keep cotton wicks trimmed to 1/4" 

 Keep wood wicks trimmed to 1/8” to 1/4” 

 Remove any debris before lighting  

 If your wood wick is stubborn to light and is properly trimmed, hold the lighter/match to it for 8-10 seconds

 Keep away from drafty areas (active fans, doors or open windows)  

   You can also enjoy the rest of the candle on a candle warmer. 

Q:  Why are there variations in the look of the wax?

A:  “Frosting" is a common characteristic of candles made with soy wax.   It can appear as a crystalline formation on the surface or sides of the soy candle and is harmless.  Frosting is an indicator that the candle is pure soy; many soy candle lovers look for this to ensure that the candle is all natural!  If your candle has frosting you can rest assured that the scent or burn quality are not affected.

Q:  What if I don’t like the scent of my candle?

A:  Unfortunately, I cannot accept returns or exchanges based on the scent.  Thank you for your understanding.  Buying a scented candle online should not feel risky.  I take great care in choosing our scents, and to show appreciation for your business I always include sample scents with every order in the form of wax melt cubes (trial size) or small candles.
